Félix Fivaz is a swiss drummer, composer, producer and educator. Born in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1990, he grew up there and forms his first bands. After studying social work, he decides to make music a priority and takes part in many musical projects, investing himself fully and gaining experience in various genres. In 2011, he begins professional music studies at the Lucerne Art University (HSLU) in the Jazz Department, taking lessons with Norbert Pfammatter, Gery Hemingway, Dominik Burkhalter, Heiri Känzig and Thomas Meier to name a few. He obtains his Bachelor in Arts Of Music in 2015 and, a Master in Education in in 2017. He wins a scholarship supporting young talents in jazz from the Friedl Wald Foundation in 2016.

He is a hard worker, passionate about instrumental practice and experimentation. His own sound, touch and energy give his projects a strong musical identity.  After more than 1000 concerts with different projects, his will to give to each piece of music something unique, a reason to be, is stronger than ever.
He has played in many of the greatest Swiss and international locations / festivals such as Eurosonic, WOMAD, les Transmusicales, Reeperbahn, les Vieilles Charrues, Paléo Festival, Festineuch, Montreux Jazz Festival, Moods, La Case à Choc, Fri Son, Les Docks, l’Usine, etc.
, etc. He has toured in Switzerland, France, Canada, UK, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Lebanon, China mainly with the bands Muthoni Drummer Queen, Frida, Arthur Henry, Koqa Beatbox, Menura and République Atypique.

 

In 2020 begins a new chapter for him. During the lockdown, away from the stages, he releases his first solo album called Couleur Trauma in which he reveals his passion for composition and his touch as a producer. Building confidence after this experience, he begins producing and composing for other artists / movies / theater / dance. He begins producing songs with Lebanese singer Frida, Swiss rapper Jonas, jazz artist Carolina Katun and a lot of others. With Frida begins a new collaboration as a drummer/composer/producer, resulting in 2 EP’s (one recorded in Switzerland and one in Lebanon) and developing with Frida and the band a very deep musical playground.

Besides his carrier as a performer, he has been teaching drums for 13 years in different schools in Switzerland (Ton sur Ton in La Chaux-de-Fonds, EMJB in St-Imier). He collaborates often with cultural mediation associations like Usine Sonore and give different workshops, especially about improvisation, electronic music and beatmaking.
